Meditation for Calmness, Clarity and Compassion
Concordia University, Loyola Chapel 7141 Sherbrooke St. West, Montreal, QCHaving a restless, unsettled mind is pretty common, perhaps especially these days when there is so much distraction from social media. Insight (vipassana) meditation can give us skills to collect and calm the mind, which helps us feel greater stability and well-being. Clarity comes when we don't get so pulled into habits of thinking, moods and emotions that come up, because our minds are more calm. And we connect with a natural sense of compassion for ourselves and the world around us as we come to know our own minds with kindness and honesty. These qualities of calmness, clarity and compassion are key developments in insight meditation practice, and we will explore them with teachings and experiential practices during the daylong retreat. The day will include meditation instruction, sitting and walking meditation, guided practices and a talk and discussion, with opportunities for questions in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is welcome: beginners and more experienced practitioners. Space is limited! This event will be limited to 35 participants.
